Berlange is a member of the small percentage of the Haitian diaspora who return to give back to the community in which they were raised. Scholars speak about the need for Haitians, who have left and found success elsewhere, to invest in their homeland as one of the keys to Haiti’s long term change. We have been blessed to find one such women in Berlange. Berlange and her husband, Johno live in Boston but travel to Gonaives often. Berlange has been involved in community developement for years. She has used her land as a way to give back to her community. She has built a school, put in a well and also uses her property to host mission and aid groups. She will be providing a place for us to live as well as a site for the clinic.
