The Haiti Orphan Project trips offer the opportunity to personally experience the ministry of third world orphan care.
Our trips are six days, Wednesday through Monday. We’ll leave early on a Wednesday morning, meet in Miami, FL and fly into Port-au-Prince as a group on the mid-afternoon flight and make it to our destination, either the Jumecourt Inn in Croix-de-Bouquet (if we arrive late Wednesday) or the Paradise Village Inn in Gonaives (if we arrive earlier in Haiti), in time for dinner. Where we stay the first night depends on our arrival time in Haiti.
Paradise Village Inn in Gonaives is where we will spend most of our nights in Haiti. It is owned by a Haitian-American couple who operate the inn as a means of income to support their school, The Belle Angel School in Gonaives.
Over the weekend, you’ll spend time with children at two to three different church homes for kids, including the Village de Vie in Gonaives, Haiti. Activities are similar to what you would do with your own kids – singing, games, crafts, hugging and holding. The simple act of loving these children is just like treating a physical wound. During your visit, you will also have an opportunity to experience our ministry model, worship with the local church in Haiti, and learn about job-creating businesses, all against the backdrop of the sights and sounds of Haiti.
In addition, some of our trips will include a mobile medical clinic in coordination with our HOPE Medical Project. You need not be a medical professional to participate in the medical clinic (but there are always needs for “helpers” during the clinics). But if you are a medical professional we welcome your participation on these trips. In any case, the singing, games, crafts, etc. with the kids will also still ba a part of every trip.
While our goal is to bless these children, we are more often the recipient of the blessing. God is transforming lives (our lives and the children) through ministry of orphan care.
